Press On, Friend

in-jesus-name

It seemed the appointed time that God did pick,
but deferred hope once again makes your heart sick.
Deep inside you’re longing for an answer
for delays that eat away at you like cancer.
Decisions were made with seemingly no reason or rhyme,
and you feel that you’re running out of precious time.
You dared to hope for intervention monumental
but obtained a small victory, incremental.
Though you haven’t seen what you wanted to yet,
our God is faithful not to forget
each time that you’ve lifted your voice in prayer,
coupled with the petitions of others who care.
In spite of the pain, friend, press on, keep believing.
The promise God gave, you will be receiving.

This Is The Day!

sunrise-sky-blue-sunlight-67832

You’ve heard that sinister

roar in your ear countless times

despair

depression

defeat.

Hope has been deferred, but

it has not been denied.

In the midst of all

the somber gray clouds God

gave you a promise to

which you have held

on, and now……………..

fruition.

Many prayers have

ascended. A palpable

change is in the atmosphere.

You dare to believe

a new earth shaking roar that you

hear with your spirit.

Determination.

Destiny.

Deliverance.

After so long a time

this is the day!

Missing My Country

Image result for sad america

I miss the way my country used to be,
and there are times it brings me close to tears.
A Christian nation no longer is she,
and truth be told she hasn’t been in years.
The loss I mourn, my country, ‘tis of thee.

So far removed from founding roots are we.
The things for tolerance we have embraced.
Many have no clue and cannot see
sustaining principles being replaced
in what is called sweet land of liberty.

The crisis, how to solve some would debate;
to restore morality upon our sod.
I fear to think about the future fate
of a nation that has turned its back on God.
I pray that we repent fore it’s too late.

William Shakespeare Helps Me Rail On The Devil

shakespeare mug

In April, my husband and I made a trip to Illinois where he would be preaching a meeting for a pastor friend of ours. Before we went to be with this good pastor and his wife, we were able to take a day and visit with my youngest brother and his family who live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My husband, who is a coffee lover, was served his beverage in a mug that looks exactly like the one above. We both thought it was amusing and even took a picture of it to share with our two grown children who were not able to come with us on the trip. Since I knew my husband really found this mug amusing, I was able to find one online, order it and give it to him for a belated birthday present.

One day when I was thinking about Mr. Shakespeare and his winning way with words, I thought it might be interesting to use my imagination and pair up with him to write a scathing rant against the devil. Below is what I came up with. I look forward to the day when the enemy of my soul is forever vanquished!

(Shakespeare’s writing is in bold print)

I hate you with perfect hatred.
You’re the father of all lies;
the absolute embodiment
of everything I despise.
Thoroughly I’m convinced.
I’m a bona fide believer.
My words will not be minced.
You’re a charlatan, the worst deceiver.
I can’t be scathing enough, I fear,
so I call on a voice from the past.
Do you remember a bard by the name of Shakespeare?
He’s about to give you a blast.

Thou droning base-court clack-dish.
Thou wayward elf-skinned scut.
That we’d be better strangers is my wish
as to to chase I cut.
O Gull! O Dolt! As ignorant as dirt,
canker blossom, quintessence of dust,
I truly hope my words do hurt.
They will. I fully trust.
Thy tongue outvenoms all the worms of Nile.
You are as a candle, the better burnt out,
incessant n’er do well, so vile.
Thou yeasty beef witted lout.

Anointed cherub in heaven were you
till your heart was lifted up in pride.
God kicked you down to the earth, yes it’s true
on the very first drop zone-like ride.
You became the prince of the power of the air
and set out to hoodwink mankind.
Daily it is your wicked prayer
that humans stay spiritually blind.
I feel for you such abhorrent disgust.
I wish you the worst of ill will.
Defer to my dear writing partner, I must.
Go ahead.  Take it away, Bill!

There’s no more faith in thee than in a stewed prune,
wither’d like an old apple-john.
Thou brazen lily livered cream faced loon.
methinks thou personifies con.
Mountain of mad flesh, light of brain,
Thou jarring milk-livered codpiece.
Of your crusty batch of nature, I do complain
Your foolish wit, O will it never cease?
Out you baggage! You tallow face!
Out of my sight! Thou dost infect my eyes.
Thou haughty onion-eyed, peevish disgrace.
Thou speakest false. Sick am I of thy lies.

Yes, you’ve wreaked havoc on the earth,
but your disinformative dupery will end.
You’ll come to rue the day of your birth.
None, your dark hide will defend.
I now remind you what’s in the back of the Book,
since God’s Word you have chosen to ignore.
Let your cowardly eyes just take a look
at where you’ll be landing forevermore.
Your rebellious form will be cast down,
and the beguilement business expire.
Many will look narrowly with approving frown
as your thrown into red lake of fire.

Lord, I Pantoum You

Lord, the only Lord, I pantoum You.

Jesus, my God and God alone.

I’m filled with awe and wonder anew

as I bow before Your throne.

Jesus, my God and God alone.

The Lord of heaven had a great plan.

He truly desired to make Himself known

and took on the form of a man.

The Lord of heaven had a great plan.

He gave to earth His very best.

In God’s mind, before time began

He made a way that all could be blessed.

He gave to earth His very best,

bled, suffered, died to take away my shame,

with supreme, faithful love that stood the test.

I weep with joy as I praise His name.

Bled, suffered, died to take away my shame.

I’m filled with awe and wonder anew.

I weep with joy as I praise His name.

Lord, the ony Lord, I pantoum You!

The pantoum consists of a series of quatrains rhyming ABAB in which the second and fourth lines of a quatrain recur as the first and third lines in the succeeding quatrain; each quatrain introduces a new second rhyme as BCBC, CDCD. The first line of the series recurs as the last line of the closing quatrain, and third line of the poem recurs as the second line of the closing quatrain, rhyming ZAZA.

Ephesians 4:5  One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

John_20:28  And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Revelation_13:8  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

1Timothy 3:16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Hebrews 2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Lesson of the Doily

doily

So intricate it’s weaving

home spun work of fine lace,

I turned it over in my hands

this sample of beauty and grace.

As I gazed upon the pattern

I wondered how much time

that it took to make this doily

so simple, yet also sublime.

To create a delicate piece such as this

I truly had the will,

yet I knew it wouldn’t be possible

with my obvious lack of skill.

At this point in my musings,

the Lord spoke to my heart

of a different sort of handiwork

that He wanted me to start.

“Just put your hand in My hand,”

God whispered in my ear.

“I’ll show you how to guide your children

so that my name, they will fear.

Day after day, together we can work

My character in them to engrave

this blessed undertaking you must never shirk

that their precious souls might be saved.”

So I must be faithful to pray, teach and labor

and in passing of time, I’ll be seeing

upon their lives, God’s great favor

His attributes knit into their being.

Happy Mother’s Day! No matter how old our children are, may we never stop praying for them and doing all we can to influence them to become more like Jesus.
