Victory Is From The Lord

Fools will oppose with senseless prattle,

binding the truth with chains that rattle.

Though the horse is prepared for the day of battle,

Victory is from the Lord.

Liars, over simple, seek to hold sway;

cruelly intend to have their own way.

Tides can turn as we watch and pray

Victory is from the Lord.

Situation’s can often look rather bleak,

leave us feeling like we’re up a creek.

God’s face we must not fail to seek.

Victory is from the Lord.

We cannot succeed in our strength alone.

We need help to flow from heaven’s throne.

And in its arrival, this truth fully known

Victory is from the Lord!

Don’t Get Caught Up On The Whys

why

When doubts invade as an unwelcomed prancer;
questions eat at you like a growing cancer.
You don’t understand and long for an answer.
Don’t get caught up on the whys.

For this calamity you had to make room.
Somber clouds on your horizon now loom.
You long for joy, but you wrestle with gloom.
Don’t get caught up on the whys.

You may feel you’re at the end or your rope.
You’re struggling to function, go forward or cope.
There’s a key to not giving up all hope.
Don’t get caught up on the whys.

If you love God, all things work together for good
though you may not see now how they possibly could.
The Lord knows best, be it understood.
Don’t get caught up on the whys.

When despair and depression seem to be pally,
the passageways of your mind you must rally.
Start praising your way out of this lonely valley.
Don’t get caught up on the whys.

Life is not always fair, this is true.
Your tranquil essence can turn suddenly askew,
but you can be a victor. Determine that you
don’t get caught up on the whys.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Give Us The Facts From The Book Of Acts

Just imagine you could bring a Bible character back to this earth for a season. Who do you think you would choose? I chose Peter, and here is why.

another Acts 2 38

Peter, it’s such a blessing to have you back on earth
because our world is confused when it comes to the second birth.
Jesus gave you the keys. You’re the man who has the facts.
Please dispel all fake gospel news by taking us back to the book of Acts.
Show us that you never said to accept the Lord as our Savior.
You never preached or taught that that is how we find God’s favor.
You taught that Jesus died, the cross was His death sentence,
and we to sin, must also die, through the way of repentance.
After His awful death to a borrowed grave He was carried.
We identify with this, when in Jesus’ name baptism we’re buried.
Three days later Jesus resurrected after He had been killed.
We rise up to walk in the newness of life, when with His Spirit we’re filled.
The evidence of this infilling in God’s Word is clearly shown.
When His Spirit takes up residence, we’ll speak in a tongue unknown.
Yes, take us back in time, please, Peter, to the day of Pentecost,
when you preached that inaugural message to a multitude so lost.
So many believe in doctrines today that have totally been perverted.*
Let us read and heed God’s original plan, that we might be converted.

“He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:15-19

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.” Acts 2:36-39

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
Galatians 1:6-8

Of Winds And Chimes

Wind

A natural but invisible
      force designed by God
              Almighty, unperceived
as to origin or pathway but with
               effects
      that can be felt.

Chimes

                      Decorative pipes are activated by
               each breeze, treating the hearer
         to a complimentary
outdoor concert.

Wind

is a term also used to describe
              God’s unseen Spirit, which is
                           evidenced by a noise as
                                   His Holy Word declares.

Chimes

            Human vessels give miraculous sound
                      when reborn from above,
                              profound, ethereal
tongues of men and of angels
        When God’s gracious gust
                          Inundates
                                 Inhabits
                                      Possesses.

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:1-4

“The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8

I’ve Got The River!

gods-house-rapid_whitehorse-canoe-club

Refreshing current, first time upon me broke
when God’s Spirit indwelt me, in tongues I spoke.
I’ve got the river!

Sometimes it is a peaceful ride
with still pure water on the inside.
I’ve got the river!

On occasion it bubbles up merrily
and truly I know, verily, verily,
I’ve got the river!

Some days the waters wind and turn.
Perhaps there’s a lesson for me to learn.
I’ve got the river!

Other times it’s wild and exciting
Those spiritual rapids, I am riding.
I’ve got the river!

When I yield myself to its full control
the waves and billows sweep over my soul.
I’ve got the river!

This life giving water is for all to receive
if according to the Scriptures, you will believe.
You can have the river!

John 7:38-39 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Act 2:1-4 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Act 10:44-48 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Upon What Are You Building?

It’s hard to believe it is March already, and typically in this month we see or are reminded of budding blossoms, weather beginning to warm up, St. Patrick’s Day and shamrocks. When we think of the word “shamrock”, most of us immediately envision that green, three part clover leaf that is popular during this time of the year. However, the word “shamrock” can also be classified as a compound word, which is 2 words that come together to make one new word.

In the word “shamrock”, we see the 2 words “sham” and “rock”. By definition, a sham is something or someone that is pretended, counterfeit or feigned. When most of us think of a rock, we get a visual picture in our mind of a large mass of stone that forms a cliff or hill or perhaps a single stone of smaller size. Another definition of rock is “a person or thing suggesting a rock, especially in being dependable, unchanging, or providing a firm foundation.

Jesus spoke the following words in the book of Matthew about His own teachings.
Matthew 7:24, 25 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

The Bible, God’s Holy Word is a solid foundation upon which we can build our lives. If we are not striving to live our lives in obedience to God’s Word, then we are really building our lives upon a “sham rock”. If a spouse, loved one, movie star, super hero, etc. is #1 in our lives instead of Jesus, we are building our lives on a “sham rock”. If wealth, career, education, pursuit of worldly pleasure or some other thing is the master passion of our lives, we are building our lives on a “sham rock”. Jesus had this to say in contrast of the person who does not build their lives upon His Word.

Matthew 7:26, 27 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

So what about you? Upon what are you building your life? Stormy trials and tests will come at one time or another into your life. If it is built upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ and His Word, it will be able to withstand those storms. May we all earnestly pray that we will hear and do the Word of God, that we might have a solid foundation upon which to build our lives and be not only blessed here and now, but in the life to come!

Simeon’s Secret

My pastor’s(husband) preaching last night concerning Simeon brought this post back to mind. I’m so glad Jesus came the first time, and I am longing, waiting for and planning on being ready for His second coming. Wishing all our friends and family a very Blessed Christmas!

Write At Home

Psalm 25:14

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

Simeon had a secret. It was something that God had revealed to him. We don’t know exactly how God told him. Maybe it was a dream. Perhaps he heard and audible voice. The Bible does not say, but the Bible does tell us what God revealed to him.

Luk 2:25,26

And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

Simeon had a wonderful promise that before he died, he was going to see the Messiah. How thrilled he must have been on that…
