Craigslist Conundrum, Craigslist Celebration!

Craigslist is something else. You just never know what you might find on Craigslist. Early Saturday evening, we returned home from an absolutely fabulous church conference. I went to check our answering machine and noticed we had 45 messages. We were only gone 3 days, so that is a significant amount for our household. I listened to the first message which was a call for Pete concerning the 2 bedroom apartment in San Francisco for rent. “Huh?’ I wondered. The next 3 or 4 messages were basically the same thing of people inquiring about the 2 bedroom apartment for $1100 a month(a great deal in San Fran). My husband who was exhausted from our trip, had fallen asleep on the couch. I woke him up and told him about the messages we were getting on the answering machine. He hopped up and got on the computer, and sure enough, he found the ad on Craigslist. The ad has been removed, but we still do not know who placed it. We think it might be one of my husband’s preacher friends playing a joke.  🙂

Now for the rest of the story. That same evening, my husband came across a notice on Craigslist from a church that wanted to give away some pews. My husband was able to contact the person who only lives about an hour from here. Today, he went to see the pews. He called me all excited a little while ago. The pews are in excellent condition and look brand new. They are ours for the taking, and we’ll be taking them tomorrow morning. With these pews, we will be able to double our seating capacity. If we were to buy these pews, they would cost at least 10 grand, but we are getting them for free. Hallelujah! Once they are in our possession, I hope to be able to post some pics, but for right now, I just wanted to share this miracle.

Update – 8/25/09 p.m. – All 21 pews are stacked up in the church right now. We will need to get the anchoring hardware and contact a professional to get them installed correctly. I went down to the church and took a few pictures. I’m so excited and thankful for this wonderful blessing!

  1. Good morning. An awesome report, and another example of how the Lord often works in the most unexpected of ways. When the human manipulation factor is removed from the equation because of sheer impossability, the name of Jesus is truly glorified.

    Blessings always in Jesus name.

Hi Timbob. Yes, we are certainly thankful for God’s unexpected blessing. I’m believing God is giving us more seating, because He is going to help us fill those seats with souls that are hungry for Him!

  2. Whoa. Sometimes those “automatically generated listings” that we all find at the bottom of our posts can bring up some nutty stuff. And yet, perhaps this is a positive thing as it reminds us that there are priceless souls all around us who need Jesus. It’s been a continual prayer request over the years, but has become more urgent in recent months. That is to see those around me as the Lord sees them. To fully understand where the battles are and what’s at stake.

For example, there is a plethura of complexities in this household that tempt one to react instead of respond, but the real battle isn’t the complexities. The real battle is souls in need of salvation. The devil will strive to get us sidetracked into an array of endless (and meaningless) skirmishes in the flesh while the clock is ticking and souls are inching ever closer to a point of no return. This is an issue that I wrestle with daily.

    Blessings in Jesus name.

  3. That’s gotta be a mighty big two-bedroom apartment if it is to hold all 21 pews!

J/K of course. What an absolute blessing.

    And the Kingdom grows……

Yes, it is a great blessing, and it will be an even greater blessing to see those pews filled with precious souls worshipping the Lord in spirit and in truth!

  4. How wonderful! God works in amazing ways!

Hi Scotti. Yes, God does work in amazing ways. I’m grateful for His provision.

  5. God just never ceases to amaze me!
    Isn’t He just absolutely AWESOME?
Thank you Lord for yet, another blessing!

You know why He gave you those pews right?
Because souls are on the way. 🙂

Hi Jolene. That’s the first thing I thought of when we got the pews. God has souls that are going to be sitting in them. In Jesus’ name, I believe it! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  6. NEATO!! Can’t wait to see them in person. Here’s a verse: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were SITTING (Acts 2:2).

Hi Tom. Thanks for this great verse to go along with the pews. Love ya!
