Give Us Children

We thank you for our padded pews.

In comfort we sit, to hear the Good News.

Yet, there is one thing we sorely need;

for this request we humbly plead.

Lord, hear the church’s battle cry.

Give us children, lest we die.

Soft carpet beneath our feet is swell

and brings to us that “new church” smell,

but this amenity can never replace

lost ones who encounter Amazing Grace.

Lord, hear the church’s battle cry.

Give us children, lest we die.

The sound system is good. The music is fine

to help usher in Your presence divine.

But oh, for new souls to come and find

our God, full of mercy, forgiving and kind.

Lord, hear the church’s battle cry.

Give us children, lest we die.

This building that we call our own,

A blessing it is from Heaven’s throne.

May we have an outpouring of Holy Ghost rain

that no empty seats would remain.

Lord, hear the church’s battle cry.

Give us children, lest we die!

  1. Good evening. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. May we all be about the great commission with an urgency like never before.

There’s a brother at work who came to Jesus a year ago and his wife shortly thereafter. When we see one come to Jesus, the fruit of the Spirit manifest, and they begin to grow in Christ, it’s amazing. And yet everyone who is born of the Spirit has a like testimony.

CR (the brother at work) loves Jesus and moreover, he has a grasp concerning the lateness of the hour that few christians will consider. His affections are fixed on things above and he’s becoming quite an evengelist.

    WOO HOO!

Have a blessed evening and a blessed thanksgiving in Jesus.

Hi Tena. Yes, I wrote the poem, and I’m glad you like it. I found the photo doing a Google search and really liked it too. Hope you and your family are enjoying God’s blessings this holiday season. 🙂
