On Parenting

It’s not only children who grow.  Parents do too.  As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours.  I can’t tell my children to reach for the sun.  All I can do is reach for it, myself.  ~Joyce Maynard

  1. What a great quote and how very true. It is so easy to end up in the mode of the old cliche “do as I say, not as I do”.

A good reminder to remember that children Learn by example.

    Thanks for sharing.

Catherine….I love your comment. Lately I feel like I have been in that classroom.

Sometimes it’s nice to be the student, learning from your children.

  2. Parents have great responsibilities. But let’s not forget, “it takes a village to raise a child.” We can stifle our children without even knowing it.

Is this based on biblical principles?

  3. “No question is so difficult to answer as that to which the answer is obvious.” George Berand Shaw

Well, we obviously have a difference of opinion here, but that’s okay. Variety is the spice of life.

  4. Awesome quote! The Lord has really been impressing this truth on my heart lately–that I am learning as I go, and that as I face trials and challenges, my children are learning by my example. Therefore, I want to be very careful about Whose example I am following!

  5. Truth, Truth, words of truth are thought provoking and always hit home, don’t they. I have been so concerned about the youth of this country and what our nation is teaching them as “truth”. Thanks for the quote of truth!
