Isaiah 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
because God wondered and took action
Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
the incarnation produces wonder
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luk e2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
Luke 2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luke 2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Luke 2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
Luke 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
Luke 2:17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
Luke 2:18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah that was to come would be called Wonderful.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Jesus is indeed wonderful, filled with wonder. This holiday season, I feel filled with wonder once again, as I think of how God humbled Himself, took on the form of humanity and came to give His life for me. May the wonder of the incarnation fill you with wonder, awe and praise during this wonderful season!
